It was with regret that we learned of the death of former National Hot Rod driver Malcolm Chesher on Monday 23rd April.
Malky, as he was more commonly known, was one of Scotland’s top Hot Rod drivers and had raced his cars at Cowdenbeath during its Spedeworth days, Armadale, Newtongrange, and then back at the Racewall at Cowdenbeath.
Malky was a great exponent of the Mazda Hot Rod and often qualified for the World Final down at Ipswich where many a sterling drive saw him bring his car home in the top ten.
In Scotland, he won the Scottish Championship and many other titles in what was a glittering career. Latterly he was helping son Keith in his Hot Rod career and would often give helpful advice to other drivers.
Malky was what can only be explained as a gentleman and he will be sorely missed from the ovals. To his wife and family we offer our sincere condolences.
