Foster’s Final
Rory Foster took the Final in the V8 Hot Stox at Coventry on 7th April in the formula’s first outing of the season. In a superb heat 1, Chris Bracher and Carl Radforth were battling for the lead after spinning initial leader Foster out of turn 2. Into the last bend Radforth launched at Bracher to send him wide to take the lead, but Bracher came back on turn 4 and hit Radforth, both cars going very wide out of the turn and into the fence. Bracher bouncing off for the win, while Radforth was left against the armco just yards from the line in a cloud of steam.
The opening laps of heat 2 were again led by Foster, but this time Lee Summers overhauled him and went on for victory, chased to the line by Michael Boswell. It came right for Foster in the Final, and he was never headed, although Boswell and then Terry Hawkins were closing at times, but Foster held on for the flag, with Hawkins and Boswell having to be content with second and third.
