JASCAR Series Launches
In an exciting new development to the successful MASCAR series, in 2012 the formula will be accompanied by a brand new series aimed at the junior racer – JASCAR! The goal of the series is to provide an inexpensive entry level to the stock car racing experience for young drivers aged 8 – 16 years. The cars are identical in every respect and all cars use a small carburettor to reduce the power of the engine and strict controls are in place to ensure equal opportunities.
The formula may be new to the UK but, like its older brother, is long established in the USA. Since 1995 the Miniature Motor sports Racing Association (MMRA) of America has sanctioned this type of race car and holds meetings throughout the USA where they have proved very popular.
A ten date inaugural season is planned for the UK with meetings, on the same bill as the main MASCAR series, at Birmingham Wheels, Northampton, and Hednesford. The first car arrived in the UK towards the end of 2011 and has been tested with great success at Birmingham; the car was also on display at the recent Autosport Show at the NEC in January.
JASCARs are powered by Honda GX – 390 4 stroke OHV single cylinder engines that are dyno checked and then sealed for equality, and they feature the same adjustable suspension and slick tyres as the adult race cars. Fully built cars (not including paint and decals) are priced at £8,495.00 and complete kits, including a sealed engine and everything needed to build the car (even the rivets!), are priced at £7,498.00.
However, MASCAR are offering a limited number of introductory offers that will allow the first 10 drivers to the series the opportunity to purchase a brand new car with a deposit of just £3K with the balance payable over the season or just hand the car back at the end of the year!
